Look at the cleanliness of the makeup artist, if brushes are cleaned and sterilised and if disposables are used such as mascara wands. You don't want a mascara wand touching your lashes if it's been used on other clients as this can easily transmit conjunctivitis. The same goes for lipsticks and cold sores.

Once you've chosen your makeup artist, start a beauty routine as soon as possible to have your skin in top condition for the big day. Wash and moisturise your face morning and night to keep your pores clean and give your skin the moisture it needs. Exfoliate once or twice a week to get rid of dead skin otherwise your makeup clings to dead skin showing it up. A facial is also recommended once a month which is a more intense treatment than what you do yourself at home and is also a good chance to relax from the stresses of planning a wedding!
