Your
wedding day is one of the most significant days of your life. You want
to look your best; glowing and radiant as you walk down the ailse to
your husband With only one day to get it right, have your makeup done
at home by a professional and be the image of elegance and perfection.
How
you're going to look on your wedding day is important to you right?
So don't leave the task of hiring a makeup artist for your wedding
to the last minute. I'm forever hearing horror stories of bad makeup
experiences and you dont want this to be you! On your wedding day
the last thing you want is to look like your makeup is packed on layers
thick and you don't need to do this for your look to last all day.
Most brides want to still look natural, highlighting their best features,
with definition for the photographs. You still want to look like you,
the women your fiance fell in love with.
Start
looking for a makeup artist a year before the big day if you can this
way you have a better chance of finding a good makeup artist before
they become booked out -I'm already taking bookings for 2008! Look
for someone that will travel to you on your wedding day in the convienence
of your own home. This is more time efficient and relaxing for you
so as you're not rushing from one place to the next possibly getting
held up in traffic and by other clients that also require attention
in a salon environment. Your wedding day should be all about you and
you want to have your makeup artists full attention! Let them do the
running around and fuss over you!
Look
on the internet so you can view some of their work and read information,
prices and feedback before scheduling a trial this way you have an
idea of the work they do and if this is what you're looking for. When
you do schedule your trial, book it in the daytime so you can see
what your makeup will look like during the day - it's also a good
idea to choose a date when you have another function as once your
makeup is done you'll want to go out!
Have
a close friend or family member with you at your trial that you know
will give you an honest opinion. Be careful not to bring too many
people as you may get confused with too many opinions! At your trial,
get to know the makeup artist so you feel comfortable. The makeup
artist should be getting to know you as well and asking questions
such as colour/style of your dress, bridesmaids dresses and flowers.
This will help to create a makeup look to go with your personal style
and compliment the colours around you on the day. Have pictures from
magazines to show the make-up artist various looks that appeal to
you. Mention if you have any skin problems or allergies etc, or if
there are any particular ways you like to wear your make-up. It's
also great if the makeup artist notes down the look you have decided
on for the day so you're guranteed the same look you're happy with
without the risk of the makeup artist forgetting what they have done
at the trial. This will give you reassurance and peace of mind.
Look
at the cleanliness of the makeup artist, if brushes are cleaned and
sterilised and if disposables are used such as mascara wands. You
don't want a mascara wand touching your lashes if it's been used on
other clients as this can easily transmit conjunctivitis. The same
goes for lipsticks and cold sores.
Once
you've chosen your makeup artist, start a beauty routine as soon as
possible to have your skin in top condition for the big day. Wash
and moisturise your face morning and night to keep your pores clean
and give your skin the moisture it needs. Exfoliate once or twice
a week to get rid of dead skin otherwise your makeup clings to dead
skin showing it up. A facial is also recommended once a month which
is a more intense treatment than what you do yourself at home and
is also a good chance to relax from the stresses of planning a wedding!
